Hi, I’m Jen Hunter, an academic reference librarian at Penn State Abington, a Commonwealth Campus of Penn State University.

I came to librarianship after a 15 year career in marketing communications as a writer and content strategist (primarily for higher ed), which has been instrumental in the outreach, project management, and communications portion of being a librarian.

In addition to my career in industry, I have a master’s degree in English with a specialization in late-19th to early-20th century American literature, as well as 3 1/2 years experience as an adjunct instructor of academic writing at The College of New Jersey.

The convergence of these fields means that I know how to develop lesson plans, engage undergraduate students, develop assignment-specific assessments, manage projects, manage people, serve the public, work with technical, creative, user experience and professional teams, conduct research, mentor, present to a crowd, plan events, develop networks, connect people, get to the heart of the story and tell it through multiple channels.
